Welcome to weekend numero 2 of this lovely October!
Haha, nah but we’re back at it. This weekend wasn’t really as exciting for me as last weekend was, but I think we found some really dope little gems. October is looking to be a great month for new tunes.
I’ll be working on bookmarking the track lists for the first two mixes this week. I’ll keep you all updated for when that get’s posted.

Tobe Nwigwe — THE BRIDGE
Love the composition of this cover, but I don’t really like the way the colors look or the way the blacks are blown out. Maybe a little bit of a filter on there too? Not sure. But it is a fly photo tho!
The first few songs, I am not super into. I don’t know why, but Tobe’s voice sounds so distant from the instrumental on most of the songs. Sounds sorta odd. I do like the sound of “ALL OR NOTHING” feat. Labrinth. I also really enjoy “ALLAHUAKBARS” feat. Fat Nwigwe & Jay Electronica, I can never deny a Jay Electronica verse. “SUPERSTAR” feat. The Cavemen. & FirstKlaz, is also a solid track.
There is just a weird thing with how his voice sounds on these records, I don’t know why really. I love the instrumentals tho!

Remi Wolf — Mud
Cool photo. Just her covered in mud haha, but it’s more effort than I have seen on some other album covers.
The music is fine, not bad by any means, just not really extraordinary. The album almost has a little bit of a modern Country vibe that I don’t really like. There are some solid ballad type joints here, but they just don’t fully hit like I’d want them too.

Troye Sivan — She’s the Best
Cool photo, I wonder if that is Troye. I am pretty sure he’s played around with drag before in the past.
I really love the sample and pace of the track “Party”. It is a super fun way of bringing a classic to a modern stage. I sorta really like this “talk over the beat” approach that Troye is taking with a few of these tracks, sorta like how he does on “I Do This For You”. Some of the slower songs just aren’t hitting as good as the higher energy joints like “Troye Meets World”.
The album as a whole is fine. Nothing insane for me.

Pitbull — PITCOIN
MR WORLDWIDE!?!?! Well shit. Cover is a coin with the king of the world on it. Nice.
Starting the album with a Kiss sample/collab with “Reach For The Stars” is lowkey insane. I almost like the track “Satalanaaa” feat. Lil Jon, but it just barely isn’t exciting enough haha. “Melao” is going to get played at clubs fr. It is a great Spanish club banger. I would have loved if that was the only thing on the album. I LOVEE some salsa vibes. “Tremenda Salsita” is a super fun track. Yeah, even the song “No Es Mi Problema” feat. Jowell & Randy is a banger. If he only put out Spanish music this album, it woulda all hit hit! “No Te Hagas (Remix)” feat. Lil Jon gotta have the dopest beat on the album.
This album would went diamond in the 2010s.

WAVE$TAR — Swagstar
I am all for a drawn cover. It looks dope. But one weird bit of a critique… I feel like this album title shoulda been all caps. All the songs are. And the artist name. Just not the album title? Idk haha.
I didn’t enjoy this album. Some of the instrumentals are dope, but the whole album the vocals are just wack. Like they are this soft mumbly monotone vibe. Idk, I just wasn’t feeling it.

Bunie The First — THE FIRST EP - EP
Very solid first EP cover haha. Nah, but it’s a nice pic. Solid cover.
I love the sound of the first few tracks. I especially enjoy “LEAVE ME ALONE”, it has such a soothing sound but with a nice bounce to it. Beyond that, the rest of the music is fine.

slimdan — Focus Group
I’m not super sure what’s going on with this cover, but I feel like it’s going to match the vibe.
Oh yeah… This is exactly what this music looks like. I’m here for it. “This Is Good” lowkey doesn’t make me think that this guy is actually happy with how that relationship ended up haha. “Canadian Spelling” is a pretty cute lil vibe of a song.
Whole album is filled with these nice mellow songs, I enjoyed this.

Johnny Venus — THE 11TH HOUR
This is a pretty dope cover. Looks like they really took the time to set something up.
“RUNWAY KILLER” is a dope vibe. I love the filter on the guitar. AyoooOO! “SO BEAUTIFUL” feat. 6LACK is a baaaaanger!
Lowkey this whole album is dope! I really love the vibe of this sort of R&B.

163 Margs — More Than Rhyme
Very dope painting for the cover.
“Aroma” is a dopee track. Super vibey. There seems to be this almost muffled filter or something over the vocals. But it isn’t taking away from anything. “Ye” feat. 163Margs & Kissinger Beats is also a very dope track. I love this energy in UK Rap. Margs was spittin too! Looking forward to hearing more from them!

Danielle Ponder — Everything Has Changed
LOVEEE this cover. Stunning black and white photo. Dope hair and makeup. Sick cover.
Oh yeah, this is going to be a dope album. Such a powerful voice. Just off the first couple of tracks. “God of You” is a heavyyyy joint fr. “Garden” is an ULTIMATE vibe. I wish that “Ya Mama’s Love Song” had a more energetic climax. The lyrics and singing is amazing, I just wish the instrumental banged.
Really liked this album. Need more Danielle Ponder in my life fr!

Greta Van Fleet — Palace for the People
Cool classic rock cover. Album like a Queen cover or something.
I am looking forward to this one. I really enjoyed this band when they first popped up, but I haven’t heard anything from them in YEARS. “Heart and the Beat” is a dope ballad. Pretty much after “Field of Stars”, this album is dope. Love this style of rock.

I love the art style of the drawing for this cover. Very sketchy.
I guess this is the guy that Outcast is suing over their names being to closely spelled.
I really love the instrumentation on “WINDO” feat. Michael Sneed. I also really enjoy the track “STATIC” feat. Joey Bada$$ & Nail.
This whole album is fly. This guy is spittin. Love the sounds of the instruments.

Misty Harlowe — Midnight Serenade
Very lovely cover and I really enjoy the font and colors of everything.
For the most part, I am just missing something from most of this album. I really enjoy the song “Brandy Creek”, it isn’t the greatest, but it is only barely missing something.
Other than that, this EP isn’t baaaaddd..
