Skip-Through Review 9/11/26
Mannn! Another lowkey dry weekend of music! (At least for the mainstream releases.)
This week I was able to check out a nice little variety of music. Different genres and vibes. All of the stuff I heard was fine, nothing super stand out except a couple projects.
I did do a thing that I thought was actually pretty fun, I chose to start from the bottom of the “New Music” page. Sorta challenging the algorithm or whatever to see what was falling all the way to the bottom, and I was able to find a few really fun pieces of music that way. Maybe considering doing a full month of “bottom of the list” reviews or something.
Well, as always, if there is any music that I missed, or anything you want to recommend, I’d love to check it out! Just hit me up on here or any of the other social platforms.
Thank you for checking out the reviews! Can’t wait for next weekend!
Jhene Aiko — Westside Whimsy
Very cute cover. Lil gem tear drops. I’m with it.
First song has this interesting static like sound cutting in and out of the track. First couple songs aren’t really anything too crazy. Doesn’t feel like Jhene is really trying anything new. But on “Love Bomb” feat. Ab-Soul I really enjoy her lil rap singing flow that she has on here. Low-key bummed there wasn’t an actual Ab-Soul verse tho haha. “He Belongs” is a dope R&B track.
CAN WE STOP PAYING TYGA FOR VERSES. Anti-Tyga vibes over here fr.
Most of the songs on here are fine. I just was not super impressed with anything. There is this real reach to get one of those classic “rapper and r&b” collab moments, but they all were just falling a bit short. The joint, “So Good” feat. Kendrick Lamar was a close one, but just didn’t really HIT hit.
6.5/10
EST Gee — BIGGER THAN THE DEVIL
What a CRAZY cover this is. I wonder where they found this painting. Very sick.
First song Gee is really talkin shit. Letting everyone know that he’s that guy fr fr right now. And YOOOO, the “P.I.M.P.” sample on “WAY MORE” is wild fr. “SOMETIMES” is a fun track. I love the sound of the songs that just go. There isn’t really any chill moments. Just rappin over the beat. Same shit with “HALL OF FAME”. I really love this track “YOU KNOW IT”, while it isn’t the greatest song, I really fuck with how everyone was on the song.
Whole tape is solid.

D-Block Europe, French Montana — WORLDWIDE WAVE
Coo cover, giving like action movie or something.
Yeah, this album didn’t really give me anything to be hyped about. None of the songs really were standing out to me. I don’t really like this Auto-Tune sound that happens throughout the album.
4.5/10
Oktae — Ego & Self
I really love this cover. It feels real.
And I lowkey really love that Oktae did a lil vocal introduction to the album, just letting you know what you’re getting into. Mann, the sounds of the guitar and instrumentals on “Real With You” are so niceee! Each song on here has such a full sound to it, I really love how heavy but cohesive everything sounds together. “Keep Healing” is a great way to end the album. This is a very fun and well thought out album. Really enjoyed this.

Violet Days — Everything’s Coming Up Roses - EP
Blown out photo of the singer I assume? On the side of a hill. Cool look. Not a fan of the text tho.
Whole tape is whatever. Nothing too crazy. Sounds fine,, just not super interesting to me.
5/10
Tygers of Pan Tang — Electrifyed
Very epic cover art. I need it on a gas station t-shirt.
These guys have been making music for over 40 years. I’m here for it. Hair metal type vibes is always welcome in this house.
These guys sound incredible. I’m not sure how, but this band sounds wayyy better than some artists coming out lately. I am curious about their recording space and process. Bet they have that shit locked down. “Electrifyed”, the title track, has such a dope sound. I love this little breakdown that they do on this song. The guitar solo on “Dark Skies” melted my brain away, so aksdkfjeoiw….
Jk, shits fire tho. Love this music.

SLOT — Dry Swallow
OOOoo, okay, this cover is like an iSpy game. I like the look of it. Maybe a little too set up, but dope none the less.
The music on this album isn’t bad by any means. It has moments where it’s pretty coo, but ultimately there just isn’t anything that really stands out. I do like “Dry” quite a bit. The quiet whisper moment on the chorus is pretty dope, then they go into some sick sounding instrumentals.
6/10
Ciska Ciska — Page Of Cups (Reversed)
I really like this cover. Its looking like a tarot card situation, and I really love the way the script looks.
This album is fine, something you can throw on in the background and just let ride out. Not bad, just really chill tbh.
5.5/10
Tsu Surf — REAL INSIDE COLD OUTSIDE
Cover is the RICO indictment. Title is R.I.C.O.. Love it.
I’m not familiar with Tsu, but just off rip, “Real Inside” this guy is showing that he can spit fr fr.
Whole album Tsu is really rapping. It all sound great. I just wish some of these beats hit harder.
7/10
Reynaldos De La Sierra — B@BOSAAA 60
Some other worldly iconic vibes on this cover haha.
Now, I’m still not up to date on my Spanish, but I can still vibe and see what’s poppin here.
Lowkey looking up the lyrics to the songs has me dying. “Pvta Luna” is a song talkin his shit. You can’t find another one like me haha. “Matcha Latte” is a banger lowkey. Might be my favorite on the album haha.
Whole tape is a vibe.
7.5/10
El Principe idiota — Carisma Secreto
I really like this cover. It’s simple but well done. Keeps everything mysterious.
Great thing is that the lyrics are on the songs lyrics for this album.. The sound here is giving “sad boy”. I feels it, we can all vibe with the sad boy energy every once in a while. Really enjoyed “Equivocado”.
5.5/10
Jabulile Majola — Ipasi
I really love this cover. It’s a piece of art in it’s self. Maybe a digital collage. Nothing insane, but it looks sick.
I guess most of this album will be isiZulu, which is an African language, so this is another vibes album. It all sounds really beautiful, I am really enjoying how mellow it is sounding. The song “Hope” is in English, and it’s a very nice song as well. This guy has such a lovely singing voice. Very soothing. “Uze Wazi” is a BEAUTIFUL sounding song. Very classic soul type instrumental.
Lovely album.
8/10
Yusuke Sase — Camping Music
Very beautiful photo looking at the sun beaming through the leaves of a tree for the cover. Really sets the scene.
This is a Jazz album, it doesn’t look like there is any lyrics. Straight instruments. Let’s see the vibes. Lots of brass here. Super dope sound. I bet someone could sample the shit outta this album and make some crazy beats. It sounds like they are singing through the trumpet or whatever.
Super great vibe here.
